Food Drive Flyer WM09

BALTIMORE, MD (November 12, 2009)—Thanks to the generosity of Baltimore Ravens Willis McGahee and The Willis McGahee Foundation, 500 of Howard Country’s neediest families will enjoy a complete Thanksgiving meal in the privacy of their homes this holiday season.  McGahee will be on-hand to personally distribute the packages on Tuesday, November 24th at The Owen Brown Interfaith Center.  Located at 7246 Cradlerock Way  Columbia, MD  21045  from 11:30am – 1:30pm.

Willis McGahee contacted local officials asking them to identify 500 needy families to be benefactors.  Helping others is nothing new for McGahee.  For three years McGahee has held coat, toy and food drives and has been truly amazed by the support of the community.  In October 2009, McGahee was awarded “2009 Humanitarian of the Year” by the Community Action Council for efforts such as this.  In this philanthropic effort McGahee seeks to touch the lives of parents who often struggle day-to-day to keep food on the table and come under great stress during the holiday season.  With rising energy costs and a slowing economy, it means that more people than ever will be depending on local food banks this year. McGahee wants to make sure no family has to make the difficult decision between heating their home and putting a hot meal on the table this holiday season or throughout the winter.

Food donations are being accepted through Friday, November 20, 2009 and drop off locations are listed at www.facebook.com/willismcgahee

Looking forward to this Sunday when we get a shot at another team in the division.

I think a win would be a big turning point for us, and it would be a great way for us to go into our bye week with a lot of confidence.
