In 2007 and 2008 The Willis McGahee Foundation provided holiday toys to over 250 disadvantage and at-risk children in Howard County. We hope to make this year an even bigger success! Details will be posted soon!

In 2008, The Willis McGahee Foundation provided Prepare-At-Home Thanksgiving meal kits to over 450 families. Rather than providing an already-prepared meal, we decided to provide the tools people need to prepare their own meals in the privacy of their own homes with dignity, while fostering self esteem and empowering families. Details on the 2009 Food Drive will be posted soon!

I would have to say this was my most successful training camp ever…it never gets any easier, but definitely more rewarding!

Monday, August 17th – I had the opportunity to present 350 calculators and a check for $2500 to Prepare For Success – a program that provides school supplies for kids whose parents cannot afford them…it was great to know that so many kids will be empowered by this

In September, 2009, I took a group of Head Start kids to the stadium on my day off…just wanted to show them I’m just a regular guy who cares about them and wants them to aspire to do great things. We all had a blast.   All the kids got to see the locker room, get weighed (it took 6 of them to equal my weight!) and they got to play around on the field for awhile…they even got to touch the PLAY LIKE A RAVEN sign above the locker room door on the way out thru the tunnel to the field just like all the Ravens do on the way out to a game….nobody passes thru that door with touching that!

I loved throwing out the first pitch for the O’s game! I’m definitely sticking to football…but this was a great outing and we used it to kick off the start of my foundation. I took a group of at-risk youth to the game. We got to go on the field for batting practice, meet the players and hang out for a while in the dugout. I’m sure this is a day the kids will never forget!

Boost Mobile held the grand opening of their 1st Baltimore location on July 22, 2009 and invited me to participate! Boost generously gave The Willis McGahee Foundation a donation of $5000. Those funds will go so far in helping the disadvantaged youth that I try to support and encourage. They will also donate $500 to the John Hopkins Children’s Hospital for every touchdown I make in 2009!

Looking forward to this Sunday when we get a shot at another team in the division.

I think a win would be a big turning point for us, and it would be a great way for us to go into our bye week with a lot of confidence.
